Tourism report touts 6.3 million Porter County visitors

Visitors to Porter County may be coming for the beach, but they’re sticking around long enough to check everything else out, too.

That was the message when Lorelei Weimer, executive director of Indiana Dunes Tourism, gave her annual state of tourism report for the county.

In all, 6.3 million people visited Porter County in 2013, she said Thursday, adding tourism contributes $386 million to the county’s economy each year and results in 4,962 jobs.
