Thousands fill Central Park for Global Citizen Festival – New York’s PIX11 / WPIX

CENTRAL PARK — You could almost call it Woodstock, the 2016 version, with 68-year-old Yusuf Cat Stevens performing alongside 30-year-old Ellie Goulding.

More than 60,000 people gathered on the Great Lawn in Central Park who all believe they’ve started the people’s revolution against extreme poverty, otherwise known as the Global Citizen Festival.

“This is one of the most powerful social action platforms in the world and you guys are here because of all your hard work, actually doing things,” actor and emcee Hugh Jackman told the large and well behaved crowd.

One passerby called it the “People’s Revolution, but with a great soundtrack.”
