WEST HOMESTEAD, Pa. —
Kids were waiting at the gates Tuesday when Sandcastle Water Park reopened for the first time since severe flooding in late July forced the park to shut down.
Dozens of lifeguards and staff members, and even firefighters, worked to shovel away the mud and drain and refill the pools to make sure they were crystal clear once again.
“Pretty much the entire lower level of the water park went underwater from the Mon River,” general manager Damian Dondero said.
Everything is open again, except the Lazy River.
