Mission group to bring young people to Topeka to repair homes – The Topeka Capital

As many as 400 high school students from across the country will descend on Topeka next summer to help repair houses for struggling homeowners.

Group Mission Trips deploys teenagers — 15,000 in summer 2018 — to help communities nationwide, said spokeswoman Heather Risatti. The organization partners with local co-sponsors to bring the group to town, determine what neighborhoods or parts of town might benefit from help, and raise funds to pay for materials, she said.

Sasha Haehn, the city of Topeka’s director of neighborhood relations, said she was thrilled to learn Topeka will be a destination for the group.
