Foreboding weather reports, which turned out to be wrong, kept some North Jersey residents close to home on Memorial Day. But that doesn’t mean that they didn’t venture out to visit local street fairs, flock to malls, buy a new set of wheels or escape the heat in a cool bowling alley.
In both Bergen and Passaic counties, people said that they had opted not to head “down the Shore” for the holiday weekend after forecasters said to expect inclement weather.
“It was supposed to rain,” said Leora Secemski, a 40-year-old Teaneck resident.
